Anyways, I thought I might share a few photos I took today whilst Christie and her family decorated their Christmas tree.
I'm not sure I fully understand some people's devotion to real Christmas trees. Our family has always used an artificial one and I've never felt the need to buy a real one. How ironic, that my sister - the environmental engineering tree-hugger that she is - is dead set on us getting a real tree this year. She takes responsibility for the Christmas decorations though, so I guess it's her call.
I know people appreciate the smell and the experience of picking out the "perfect" tree. But then they bring it home to find out that it leans too far to the left and the it is about ten inches too tall. I guess I should save my judgment until I've had at least one Christmas with a real tree.
Anyway, I have a lot to learn about photography before I start producing some quality shots, but I think I'm starting to figure it out. You stay classy, San Diego.

Well see if this works. This comment box I am writing in tells me I can use HTML tags. You know how I feel about HTML, and frankly, I don't really remember how to use HTML.
Anyway, where is your entry about goldschlager? I was really looking forward to that. Also, thanx for mentioning me and the fam, though anyone who reads it probably thinks we're very mean to the little folk (that is, little children) and we're not. We love the children, we just love the tree more. Kidding.
Great shots though. You're getting better!
Christie
Which HTML tags did you use?
Anyways, the pictures are pretty washed out and dark. I don't want to use the flash but I guess I'll need to find some other lighting method to get better colour and contrast. I guess I could 'shop them but first I'll have to get Photoshop for the mac. Thanks though!
In order to post pics to the web, you'll be needing to exercise some due dillies with Photoshop. Your typical browser does not support the same colour gammut as you get from the camera, so some modified colour sampling is required. You may also wish to calibrate your monitor. Regardless, the process typically involves colour and contrast adjustments, downsizing the resulting image, followed by a little USM. That generally does the trick for most photography posted to the Web.
I want a real tree because it's tradition; you don't see people from hundreds of years ago making plastic trees that already have lights on them. Plus it smells like pine!
